2011 Hamann Hawk Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

sportscar | 2011 Hamann Hawk Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG | The core part of the power enhancement for the Hamman Hawk is the high-performance exhaust system made out of titanium. In combination with new manifolds, sports catalysts and a sports air filter, this system also renders the earthy and powerful sound of the 6.2 litre aggregate. The components are precisely adjusted with the help of a new engine characteristic map for motor electronics.  With a top performance of 636 hp / 468 kW and a maximum torque of 680 Nm at 4,850 r.p.m, the HAMANN engine exactly meets the wishes of its sports ambitious clientele. In race start mode, the Hamann Hawk Mercedes SLS AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.6 seconds and with a top speed of 320 km/h.

The HAMANN HAWK front apron replaces the serial bumper and due to its shape it reduces the uplifting forces at the front axle. Larger air inlets in connection with a new LED lights unit give the two-seater an even more dynamic look. In addition, the enlarged air inlets provide better access for the engine’s increased need for fresh air. Subsequently, the air is drawn out of new bonnet made of checkered flag carbon. Striking wing, 60mm on each front side and 70mm on each rear side, already render an impressive appearance even while the car has not started moving yet. Side skirts make the Hamann Hawk lower and more stretched and underline the rims. In order to perfectly balance out the downforce of the front- and rear axle, Hamann gives the Mercedes-Benz SLS a rear wing also made of checkered flag carbon. The new rear apron with the diffuser enhances the air flow under the bottom of the car and provides room for four enormous end pipes each measuring 90 mm in diameter. Hammann Hawk uses the single part, especially light forged wheels “Unique Forged Anodized“ in 21 inches. These are fitted in 9Jx21 with tyres measuring 245/30 ZR 21 at the front and 12.5Jx21 with tyres measuring 345/25 ZR 21 at the rear axle.

2011 Carlsson C25 Royale Super GT based on Mercedes SL 65 AMG

sportcar | 2011 Carlsson C25 Royale | The C25 Royale presents itself as a counter-design to the electro hype. More than 40 electric motors are used in the C25 Royale as well – but underneath the bonnet you’ll find a traditional 12-cylinder engine, whose 753 hp ensure not only power but also thunderous drive. The purified exhaust gases make an impressive sound as they exit through the four diamond-shaped tailpipes into the open air. The breathtaking power pushes the driver into the ergonomically shaped seats, which have a massage function and a ventilation system to ensure greater comfort on long journeys. In addition, the transmission tunnel, incorporating all the important control functions, is headed towards the driver, allowing him to give his full attention to the road ahead. Because in the C25 Royale, the journey is its own reward.
Carlsson has realised more than 70 innovations in the new C25 Royale. The car’s handling in particular is better than ever before. Plus, compared to the basis model Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG, the C25 Royale is 180 kilogram lighter which is due largely to the complete real carbon exterior. This not only reduces the overall weight of the Super GT, it also effectively lowers the car’s centre of gravity and allows more dynamic cornering ability and more agile handling as Carlsson has revised the vehicle’s entire weight distribution and installed a differential lock. The full ceramic brake system reduces the weight by 50 percent and reduces the unsprung mass for a more dynamic handling. The generously designed ceramic brake discs and the solid aluminium callipers allows later braking coming into bends while the revised electronics guarantee improved response, giving greater dynamism when coming off bends. The C25 Royale’s outstanding performance data is impressive too. The strikingly beautiful sports coup? with the V12 biturbo engine achieves 753 hp (554 kW) and maximum torque of 1320 Newton metres (which is limited electronically to 1150 Newton metres). This allows the Super GT to race from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.7 seconds and to achieve a maximum speed of 352 kph.

2012 Lexus LFA

sportscar | lexus LFA |  The Toyota LF-A has made its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show. The production version of the LF-A concept will be renamed to the LFA where it will be the first-ever Lexus supercar. The LFA will go on sale during 2010 where it will rival other supercars, such as Lamborghini’s and Ferrari’s.

The LFA is a thoroughbred supercar, a machine engineered to achieve a single goal – to deliver a supreme driving experience,” said Chief Engineer Haruhiko Tanahashi. “Over the past decade we have pushed every boundary in pursuit of this goal and I believe we have created the most driver-orientated car we possibly could.” the engine for the Lexus LFA will be a 4.8-litre V10 unit with 553-horsepower (412kW) and 480Nm of torque. Expect a 0-100km/h time of 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 325km/h. The V10 engine will be smaller than normal V8 engines, and it will send all of the power to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic sequential gearbox with four-selectable driving modes that include a seven-stage shift speed selector. The shift speed selector will result in upshift speeds set to 0.2 seconds.

Similar to other supercars, the body will be made with a lot of carbon-fibre. There will be a 4,505 mm length with a 1,480kg weight. There will be a weight distribution of 48:52 which should allow it to slide around corners, creating a lot of smoke — and putting on a good show, of course. The suspension will be a double-wishbone at the front with a multilink setup at the rear. Brakes will be sourced from Brembo and they will be made from carbon-ceramic.

The SRX is based on the Cadillac Sigma platform and has a variety of engine and interior options. There is an SRX as well as an SRX-V model, although the SRX-V model was not produced after 2005. Cadillac does not intend to replace the SRX before 2008, and between now and then the company plans to release a sports package SRX as well as an upgrade and even restyling of the interior of the SRX, which will make this an even more luxurious and sporty crossover SUV. Equipped with just enough style, comfort, and power, this crossover sport utility vehicle appeals too many. This luxury crossover SUV has two engine options, which are either a 4.6 liter 320 horsepower Northstar V8 engine or a 260 horsepower high feature V6 engine. Both engine options are coupled with a five speed automatic transmission with an option for all wheel drive on both, as well. Both the V8 and the V6 models offer all leather interior as well as curtain side airbags. The V8 offers a couple more features including heated front seats and beautiful wood trim inside, all of these features are available as options in the V6. The SRX also is fitted with traction control, anti lock brakes, LATCH child seat restraint system, child safety door and window locks, as well as an anti theft system. Cadillac was also quite proud to have the SRX nominated for the North American Truck of the Year Award for 2004.

The Cadillac SRX appeals to many consumers because it is sporty, attractive, yet it is practical. In a market where much of the competition is boxy and bland looking, the SRX brings some style. The SRX not only looks great, it functions well in any weather, including snow, so it can be driven in any climate. This crossover SUV is typically rear wheel drive, but you have the option to upgrade to all wheel drive, if desired. If you’ve never owned an SUV or crossover SUV, the Cadillac SRX may be a great place to start because it is so well equipped. All of your instruments are mounted on or around the steering wheel so that they are easy to reach. The SRX is also great for families because it not only offers plenty of seating; it also has plenty of storage. If you don’t opt for the third row seating you will have even more storage room and even room for the family pets when you go on long trips. This vehicle is also very easy to drive and operate, with both engine offerings providing just enough power, as well as a smooth, quiet ride for all passengers. The Cadillac SRX really does bring all of the best things about a Cadillac vehicle together in one place. A great engine, comfortable seating, luxurious interior, and all of the options you could ever want or afford in one great car! The SRX is just big enough, not too small, and provides just enough power to get across town as well as across country.

New Beetle

sportcar [ new beetle ] At first glance, a second-generation New Beetle doesn't make a lot of sense. After all, Volkswagen's German masters never wanted to build the current one. (The original air-cooled Bug isn't remembered as fondly over there as it is here.) The animosity was such that VW's U.S. designers worked on it in secret, and it was only after their Concept 1 was slipped quietly onto the Detroit auto show floor in 1994 and met with an explosive public response that management agreed to build the car. Even so, Germans look down on it as a girl's car, a Golf with inferior packaging. So why do a follow-up? Because the New Beetle finds about 50,000 North American buyers per year, and VW isn't prepared to walk away from those sales. The Ragster concept from the 2005 Detroit show provides a window into the thinking for the convertible version. Both the coupe and the convertible again will be based on the front-engine/front-wheel-drive chassis of the Golf (Rabbit). Not only is Volkswagen readying a replacement for the New Beetle (left), the company is also developing a second Beetle model (above) that will hew even more closely to the iconic original. It is part of the proposed rear-engine small-car family previewed by last fall's Up! show cars. The baby Beetle will be between the two-door and four-door Up! in size, and it likely will use a 750-cc two-cylinder gasoline engine and a 1.0-liter three-cylinder in both gasoline and diesel form, the top performer being a 125-hp unit mated to a dual-clutch transmission. The chassis will feature inexpensive independent suspension systems front and rear. Disc brakes will be offered only in select markets, and power steering will be an option at best. Sounds like a real Beetle, all right.
